The prescription that fits your wallet

Yesterday I had my wife call around to get the best price on a prescription for Hydrocodone (Vicodin) 5-500mg tab, 20 pills. I was amazed at the different prices that we found.

Here is a list of where we called and the prices...

Weis Market - $8.99

Giant - $16.00

Walmart - $9.68

CVS - $13.09

RiteAid - $12.99

Walgreens - $13.99

Stauffers (SKH) - $9.99

Savemart - $6.98

As you can see the prices are all over the place, it really goes to show how these places rip you off for the same product.

Being on 16 different medications and having no drug plan I shop around for the best price. I only buy Generic Drugs as the price for Name Brand are just too expensive.

Many of the drugs that I use you can get at places that have a $4 for a 30 day supply, or $10 for a 90 day supply which really helps. There is no fee to get these prices like Walgreens which wants you to join a club for a yearly fee to get the price.

Here is a list of places that you can find these discount prices...

Walmart

Target

Kmart

Savemart

Weis Market

Giant

Stauffers (Rohrerstown store only)

Darrenkamps (E-town & Mt. Joy stores)

I'm sure there are others if you check around!

There is also a discount card you can get called the CVS Caremark Card that can be used at many places (not only CVS). You can save about 24% on many medications.

So if you don't have prescription insurance, or your co-pay is high you might want to check out some these places. In these economic times, you want to save the most money that you can. But use your head... don't go driving a ton of miles to get there, remember gas is almost $4 a gallon!
